The IKTIMED project (http://www.iktimed.eu/) promotes an innovative integrated approach for the MED area aimed at improving the openness of the Mediterranean territories innovation systems, through the setting-up of new modalities of cooperation among research centres, the public sector and enterprises. Therefore, its main goal is to exchange good practices related to the support of innovation and set up new tools for Public Private collaboration.
The project has some links with the CCIC project, but in this case the focus is more related to stimulate innovation towards the SMEs rather than innovation in the public sector. In this sense, within IKTIMED the concepts of “supporting innovation for private sector” and “innovation in public sector” are mixed.
IKTIMED focuses on 4 thematic areas:
- Smart Specialization;
- Public Procurement;
- Open innovation;
- Knowledge and innovation communities (Kicks)
Public Procurement is also one of the focus areas of the CCIC project. It would be very interesting for CCIC to pick some of the conclusions that have been reached within the IKTIMED project regarding this issue, as this is a way to capitalize work that has been already started by other EU projects.
